Hey folks,
Day 2 started out with a whole lot of snoozing on the alarm causing us to be late for the so-called 'early headstart to avoid the jam' trip. And to make matters worst, it had to rain on the day when we planned to do some sight seeing and visiting at the temples. Pfft.
We made a stop over at a handmade silver jewelery factory.
They make every piece of jewelery there from scratch! Which is why they were all sold at totally expensive prices. I was eager to get a pair of earrings for MamaGoose because she likes stuffs like these but I could get the similar pair of earrings here for only Rm90 when the best bargained price they could give me was about Rm150. In fact, when it is 100% handmade, there are some defecation in terms of the sizes in each pair. One of the pair will definitely be slightly bigger than the other. So, wanna pay so much for an imbalanced pair of earrings? No thank you.
See that picture of the blue thing in the 2nd box in the 3rd level? It is actually a demo of a ring the workers have molded. Once the molded case has been designed and harden, they will coat it with the silver material and decorate it with little gem stones which will turn out like these rings in the picture below!
Another kind of demo - sorry about the terrible focus guys. My camera needs some time to warm up its focusing skills and the guy was pestering me to give the demo back. Ish.
The end results.
While Faye was busy bargaining for a better price inside, we decided to run around the factory and snap pictures of ourselves.
Next stop, temples, temples and more temples.
Its not that we are so keen on going into every temple there is in Bali, but since we are already there, why not see Bali as much as we can right?
And because there were more than 2 temples that we've visited, I didn't bother asking for the names of the temples. I only knew which state they were at because one state practically only has one famous one. And, the names are so long. So, naming the temples according to its state it is!
Temple 1 - Urm, I honestly can't remember which state this is at. HAHA
Break time!
This is where one of the queen's ashes is resting at. In this temple, there wasn't much to look about because everything around us was just plain fields of old looking houses containing the ashes of the royal family members.
Those who know me well, would know that I personally love taking pictures of flowers. Over at Bali, there weren't much flowers to snap at but whenever something colorful caught my eye, I would just run to it and start snapping away until Mr.V decides to pull me away that is. This purple flower is I think, the best looking one I could find compared to the rest. By the way, the house next to the flower picture is the queen's ashes resting home.
The next temple is more interesting.
Temple at Kintamani
On that day we visited, the temple had some ceremony going on. Which pretty much blew our chances on visiting the other temple - The Mother Temple at Besakih because it was restricted as well. :(
This temple used to be the King's resting place. But ever since the king has passed on, it has become a temple where lots and lots of people go to for praying sessions and what not. To them, this place is the holiest of the most holiest because people over at Indonesia worships their King as though they are God-like.
This is the holy water bathing site - I'm sure its called as something else more 'canggih' and 'wisdom-ish' than what I just referred it as but our tour guide didn't mention the name to us.
Okay, so the deal with this pond is that when the King was living in this palace of his long time ago, water from and unknown source kept flowing out onto this particular area in the palace. And he tried to make changes to stop the water flow but it just wouldn't. As a result, he build a pond so that the water will be collected and made a pathway for the water to pass through smoothly. Now, people rinse themselves in the pond to collect blessings. Well, of course we didn't jump into the pond cause it seemed pretty unhygienic to me (don't get me wrong, I respect the culture there but it doesn't mean I would follow them and dive into the pond.). So, Mr.V just collected a handful to splash over his face while I stood at the side to snap a picture. :)
And this is another pond (people-free) where the 'magic fishes' live.
According to the tour guide, inside this pond lived only two fishes. One gold in color and the other in silver. It is said that whoever stands near the pond and manage to see any of these two fishes is considered really lucky and blessed. Throughout his (the tour guide) visits to this temple since he was a kid until now (he looked 30+), he only saw those fishes 3 times. So, as usual, being typical Chinese, we were standing under the rain to try to catch a view of at least one of the fishes.. to later on buy Toto. HAHA Just kidding, but it would be pretty cool to actually see it.
P/s: I may not have seen the fish but I saw an outline of a dolphin on the surface of the water (the picture above)! So, isn't it way better than seeing fishes?? ;D
Next stop, kebun kopi. (A mini coffee plantation site)
This is a very mini plantation site where we saw a few plants that grow those little tastes we know of - Vanilla, Pepper, and etc. The people there are really friendly as they gave us some testing cups to try different types of coffee they plant there. Some coffee was delicious and some just weren't my cup of tea (or should I say, coffee ;D ) The Mocha Chocolate and The Original Coffee was both good so I bought a packet each for my family back home to try. And also Bali's famous coffee, The Luwak Coffee. That one is expensive.
This is known as The Snake-Skinned Fruit - which I obviously didn't dare to touch at all. Serious.
But I made Mr.V feed me just to get a taste of it. It was crunchy like an apple and as sour as a plum but it gives you a weird numb sensation at your tongue after every bite which totally irritated me until I downed a couple of sips of the coffee.
This little girl caught Mr.V's attention the most while she was running around the kebun. As she was busy stomping puddles of water, Mr.V kept asking me to take pictures of her. I guess he missed his little nephew after seeing her. Awww =)
This is the volcano we visited from afar at Kintamani as well.
We just had a buffet style lunch at a restaurant nearby the volcano. So, we ate all we could and forgo-ed dinner because the buffet was expensive! So, we had to make it worth the money right? ;)
Don't you feel tired already just by reading the whole post? That day was super exhausting for us. But, we still continued with our late night activities which will be up in the next post.
See ya!
P/s: Sorry if any of these information were incorrect, I only took reference from our travel guide that could be bull shitting us from the beginning. But for what's worth, he made things sound pretty cool.
