Should be dosing off to zzz-land right now but caffeine is keeping me awake, wide awake.
Damn, should have listened to Mumsie on drinking that Old Town Hazelnut Coffee at 11.45pm just now. :(
So, my countdown to 2011! My first ever countdown! (Yeah, I know what you are thinking... geez, she's like 20 already and only then she has been to see real fireworks at a countdown? Pfft ) But it is true! :D
Countdown 'gadgets' I bought at Gombak for super cheap prices while working! Rm1.99 for each snow cans and 99cents for the mini popper :D (If you bought them at much more expensive prices, you got conned haha :P )
As you probably know by now, Mumsie and Paps are pretty overprotective over their only daughter and mainly in the whole outings field. So if I were to conclude my freedom in a modern 21st century society, I would say I only get 50% of other people's freedom in terms of occasion, venue and curfew. :( There are days where I would seriously be pissed at the fact that I still have unreasonable curfew hours but there are days where I kinda appreciate that they even let me out till that certain time of the night. But, honestly, I just wished they let me off with full powered trust and no worries. Then, I can be like 'Curfew? What curfew?? haha' :D
Mr.V, the driver of the night! :)
In fact, due to my restrictions of having limitations in freedom, I wasn't even sure that I get to experience countdown at 19 years old. =\ But, Mumsie helped me out and allowed me to stay over at a friend's place since my house is pretty far from Curve, the location we decided to countdown at.
Mun!
:)
So we decided to stuff ourselves with seafood and more seafood over at Manhattan's Fish Market. I personally love eating there as the food is pretty good; fattening but pretty good. :P Our table ordered 3 platters for 2 and almost all couldn't finish it up, except for Mr.V and I. We finished our damn platter (the first platter at the bottom right of the picture - in the process of wiping it clean) :D
Interesting storytelling time!
As usual, the gender bias picture time... boys and girls in different frames. =.=
And by 10pm, we were bored to death, walking around aimlessly and miserably looking for something to do till it was time to squash ourselves with the other crazy crowd in the center of Curve. So, we decided to head over to 7-11 and bought a couple of beer bottles to sit in front of a closed restaurant and just socialize and snap pictures :)
Until...
The random measuring tape came out of Faye's bag =.=
We started measuring our heads, boobs, chest, waist, butts, biceps, anything measurable! Such a killer to self-esteem to measure yourself after stuffing your tummy full with fatty food :( GAHH
Then it was time to head out to join the rest of the crazy-snow-attacking crowd and be suffocated. When the fireworks went off at 12am, everyone decided to spray their snow cans all at the same time and seriously, I almost died there as I experienced some difficulty in breathing. Not to forget, I am asthmatic... so it was potentially life threatening to me.
But! It was a great experience of course! To later get stuck in traffic and go along a huge crowd of people walking on the road as though it was theirs. Would I go again next year? I might but Mr.V said he wouldn't due to the congested traffic and tight crowd of people. He doesn't like to be in a sardine can. Then again, he has been to countdowns a few times already so I don't blame him. As for me, the hype is still there! WOOHOO! :D
We called it a night after chilling down at a mamak nearby. :)
P/s: Yesh, no pictures of the awesome fireworks because I was too scared to take Deric out from shelter thanks to the massive attacks of snow from all directions! Up! Left! Right! WOAH! Chillax people!
Sounds like you had a lot of fun, Sui Ying. =) All parents can be over-protective of their children, but I think it's for our own good.
ReplyDeletehey there again!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I had fun and it was even better that I get to experience it for the first time. In a way, I think we somehow appreciate freedom more when given within a limit and yes! I do agree with your stand on being it for our own good. :)
Hope you had fun during your New Year countdown too!
